ChessFlash

June 26, 2008. IMPORTANT NOTICE. I have been doing some stress and performance testing and want to make everyone that is publishing using ChessFlash aware that embedding more than about 25 instances of the ChessFlash Viewer in a single web page will cause bad things to happen to your web browser (out-of-memory, crash, etc). There is always going to be some limit but I am looking at different ways to increase (significantly, I hope) that limit. This will be a limitation on my Houston Chess blog for certain labels pages (like the "chessflash" label) so I have changed to use a "Read More..." technique described by blogger in this post.

June 23, 2008. The html generated to embed ChessFlash in your blog or web page has been fixed for an IE7 performance issue. This also simplifies the generated script. The downside is that from within blogger the Prevew does not show the ChessFlash Viewer if you are using IE7 (but it publishes fine). Let me know if you notice anything unusual.

If you registered with the user name Admin or similar you will need to re-register under a new name.

June 17, 2008. ChessFlash PGN Viewer Version 1.0 is now official! Thanks everyone that's helped by trying out the early versions!

June 13, 2008 5:00 pm CST. ChessFlash PGN Viewer Version 1.0 Release Candidate 1 is now live. Games published from this point forward will use the latest version of 1.x. This build adds minor changes in the size and location of the "Click to Play" button. Before the game is started, the Move Text Header area is now a hyperlink to ChessFlash. Previously published games will continue to use the version they were published with unless they are republished.

This topic is for discussing how to upload your PGN chess games and publish them here or to external web sites using the ChessFlash PGN Viewer.

To get started you will need an account here and the chess games you want to publish stored as PGN files -- one game per file. It is a very good idea to name your PGN files with names that are meaningful for both you and your readers.

In the Navigation panel under your name click Create Content and then Blog Entry. This takes you to the ChessFlash Create Blog Entry screen. You do not need to post a blog here at ChessFlash, but this page gives you access to the tools you will need to publish games here or at your own external blog or website.

You may want to browse our Gallery to get an idea of the effect of different publishing options.
